If you forget to brush your teeth, then our dentist, Dr. Robert Rebert, strongly encourages you to quit the habit. If you forget to brush, your smile and oral health could be in grave danger. This is because brushing can clean your smile, remove harmful bacteria from your teeth and gums and help you prevent major and destructive dental problems, like tooth decay and gum disease. So, it’s important to remember to brush twice a day. To help you do so, our dentist encourages you to do the following things:
-Set a reminder for yourself: All you need to do is write “Brush your teeth” on a sticky note and stick it to the bathroom mirror. You can also write it on the calendar hanging up on your wall. If these things don’t work, you can always set a twice-daily reminder in your phone that reminds you every morning and night.
-Keep your toothbrush where you can see it: Instead of putting your toothbrush in the bathroom cupboard or drawer, keep it out by the sink in its own little toothbrush holder. If your toothbrush is out where you can see it, you will be reminded to brush each time you visit the restroom or wash your hands.
-Keep your toothbrush handy: If you keep your toothbrush in your briefcase, purse or backpack, you’ll see it throughout the day as you’re digging for papers, pencils and other work or school-related things. When you see the toothbrush, you’ll be reminded to clean your smile. This makes it possible to brush throughout the day.
